Preston Baker is the frontman of Work In Progress, a band rooted in real life, hard miles, and honest storytelling. Born in Port Jefferson Station, Long Island, New York, Preston was introduced to the trucking life at a young age by his father—a path that would shape both his career and his music for decades to come.

With over 40 years behind the wheel, Preston has lived the life he sings about. Long hours on the road became the backdrop for songwriting, with his guitar often riding shotgun. What began as a hobby turned into a lifelong passion, as he practiced and wrote music during breaks and downtime, drawing inspiration from truck stops, highways, and the people who keep America moving.

Preston is also the owner and designer of the Presto Day Bed, a practical solution created by a driver who understands the realities of life on the road. His ability to blend innovation with experience reflects the same authenticity found in his music.

His album Truck Driving Man is a heartfelt tribute to truck drivers everywhere—past, present, and future—capturing the grit, pride, and perseverance of the profession. Alongside trucking anthems, Preston continues to write music that speaks to everyday life, growth, and the ongoing journey we’re all on.

Preston would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to visit this website and listen to his music. Your support means more than words can say.
